Wombat (Thomas) Goth-Towney
A passionate and multi-talented professional, Thomas Wombat Goth-Towney (Wombat) is a multi-talent actor performer with a passion for film and fight work. Both his acting and stunt careers began over a decade ago just before he left high school; featuring a leading role in a small YouTube series where he played “Wombat Grylls” (where he also adopted his new name), and training under Australian Stunt Coordinator Tony Lynch.
Wombat has since gone on to study both of his passions in long and short form courses, graduation from Sydney Theatre School’s 3-year full time acting course in 2017, and becoming a graded and licensed stunt performer in 2015; with training highlights from performers such as Kyle Rowling (Star Wars, Gladiators) and Masa Yamaguchi (The Wolverine, Furiosa), as well as formal training in live weapons sparing (HEMA).
Wombat has gone onto appear in series such as ABC’s Rake (season 5), Friday on my Mind, Apples Never Fall, and Significant Others. In addition to this Wombat has appeared in leading roles in almost two dozen short films, choreographed over 1000 moves of fight choreography across stage and screen, and even shot a short film that went on to win multiple awards at film festivals in 2023.
Wombat still works as an actor and stunt performer, but now also as a specialist in melee weapons work for stage and screen, specializing in swords, spears, shields, and all other weapons, medieval to modern.
