Mahalia Bowles
Mahalia started pursuing her dream of being an actor, singer, dancer and musical theatre performer early in life. She has received Independent Theatre Association Award nominations in the categories of Best Youth Performer; Outstanding Breakthrough Performance, and Best Female Musical Theatre Performer. She won the Robert DeVaak Award for the Most Promising New Talent at Limelight Theatre, 2009, for her portrayal of Sister Leo in Nunsense: The Musical. She is a winner of the Long Tan Youth Leadership Award for mentoring children and young people – especially in the performing arts. Mahalia has performed in Hansel & Gretel with the WA Opera Company; as Pandora, the female lead in The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾ and in the children’s chorus of Oliver!, as well as many other original travelling children’s musical productions. Mahalia is passionate about all kinds of performing arts. She is an open, respectful and focused worker and performer who thrives on any type of challenge. As well as studying acting, singing and dancing, she finds time to be an assistant teacher of children’s classes in both Drama and Dance.
