PERTH WEB NEWS:
LOTTERYWEST: Jessica Banaszak
back on air for a ten
day rollover in this 2011 TVC.
THE GREAT MINT SWINDLE: (the
original 'Sundowner' for those who don't know what I'm talking
about). This is one of the best films I have seen
produced in WA, I didn't say "ouch" once. It is
really so very good that when it comes to Channel 9 next month
(I think). It is a must view. All the acting is of a high
standard and beautifully balanced, there's not one actor
letting the team down. To be honest even the extras are excellent.
You all know how much work JC Casting and we three agents
worked those weeks, but the result is well worth the stress we
suffered. I sat between Rebecca Ford (reporter)
and Alyson Walker (girlfriend) who flew
back from Sydney, where she has relocated. It was a case of a
thorn between two roses, they both looked so pretty in matching
blue. Casting River Lockwood
and Charlotte Hirst
and actor Grace Ray
played the Mickleberg's children and of course many fine actors in
the roles of judges Kym Bidstrup and Ross Bryant with Clem
Littleton adding silent seriouness to the court scenes. Talei
Howell-Price (wife) other significant
speaking roles were Andrew Simpson (prison guard). Any of you
that I have missed let me kow and I will add you to the list. I
know there are more of you but I was engoseed in the
story. Most of you who were extras will certianly recognise
yourselves if I did. Well done all cast and
crew.
PERTH THEATRE COMPANY LAUNCH:
Another lovely night of industry people actors, producers, writer
and directors (no doubt a few sponsors too for which we are
grateful),chatting and catching up with the gossip while sipping
Drakesbook wines at The State Theatre Centre. The gorgeous
Melissa Cantwell announced the season 'Blackbird' (with
our Olivia Nardinia
as the child.) Also to
come, 'It's dark Outside' (Tim Watts) 'On The
Misconceptionof Oedipus' . The had a great last season, I saw
every show and wqas gld that I did and I have no reason to doubt
that this season will again put bums on seats. Mine will certainly
be there.
HORSEHEAD: Travelling to Rome
to see the play you wrote and performed at The Blue Room, now
staged at a Rome Theatre was an awesome experience for Perth
actor/comedian/writer Damon Lockwood
who has
just returned from three weeks away. A cold
experience in snow covered Rome. If any of my actors remember
Sebastiano Gavistino? It was he who organised this after laughing
through the play when he was here with us in Perth for
"work experience" and to improve his English. Way to go!
ELECTRIC PICTURES: I am
looking forward to this award winning company's next doco, 'The
Australian Wine Revolution Crew'. Being a wine lover and being
friends with one of the "hero's", Len Evans, it's going to
be fun to see all these wine guys (and girls) portrayed by
Perth actors incling our Brendan Kerkvliet Michael Djukic
and for a feminine touch, Claire
Munday
.
GRAYLANDS HOSPITAL: Tim Bowles
Chloe King
and Jonathan Young
all received praise for their role play
from Maggie, "very happy with all of them". Short but sweet. More
bookings and more compliments to come, I hope. While on the
subject of praise for our acting family another mention for Chloe
King from Bryden Smith director of 'Table Manners', thanking her
for her professionalism and energy on set.
37th ANNUAL ROBERT FINLAY
AWARDS: 'Other than Lead Male' was won by our Ray Condy
and 'Other than Lead Female' was Olivia Darby
'Stage Prescence' Mahalia Bowles (our
actor Tim Bowles her proud father) just look at her photo
and you cannot be
surprised at this win.
and then 'Youth in a Musical' was Emily
Gelineau already a professional at 12 years old. It is good that our
professional actors keep honing their schools in Community Theatre,
the audience also end up winners.
WEST AUSTRALIAN OPERA: The 2012 Brochure has been being prepared and there are some absolutely STUNNING photos of our actors scene (pun) here courtesy of West Australian Opera. Newly appointed Lara Lingtuingh (from Melbourne and gorgeous!) wanted actors rather than models because she wanted strong emotional work.
'Elektra' Zoe
Pepper
'The Pearlfishers' Andrea Ross

Both beautiful women but hardly recognisable. They Loved the job and asked for 'more like this please'. Hopefully they'll encourage and attarct a younger audience. Personally, I really enjoy opera and think that everyone should at least give it a couple of visits before deciding their prejudices either way.
